
HERITAGE DAY SIS 2025: THE HERITAGE JOURNEY
On November 23, 2025, in celebration of the 20th Anniversary of Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day (23/11/2005 – 23/11/2025), the Faculty of Cultural Industries and Heritage, VNU – SIS (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) in collaboration with COMPLEX 01, Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, and Nghe Moi – CCHN organized “Heritage Day SIS 2025: The Heritage Journey”. The program was designed to bridge heritage and cultural industries through exhibitions, discussions, and workshops, while creating a platform for students to engage with creative industry partners.

Exhibition & Hands-on Activities “Touching Heritage”
Throughout the day from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM, the “Touching Heritage” space offered interactive experiences with 10 cultural heritage practices: Trieu Khuc paper-string making, Dinh Cong silver carving – Dau Bac handicraft, Chuong Village conical hats, Hanoi culinary heritage with Mach Vi Kinh Ky, Chuon Ngo mother-of-pearl inlay, indigo dyeing, Vietnamese traditional attire with Hoa Van Phuc, traditional kites with Do va Gio, Do paper with Gen Zo, and Hue Royal Court Music. The hands-on activities in crafts, arts, and cuisine created a multisensory journey rich in knowledge and inspiration.

Panel Talk “Dialogue with Living Heritage”
The morning session from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM provided an opportunity for conversation and exchange among artisans, scholars, SIS students, and students from Hanoi University of Theatre and Cinema, Hanoi University of Culture, and Hanoi Metropolitan University, along with young people interested in heritage.
The panel was structured in three parts: an opening conversation “What have I learned from traditional crafts?”, exchange between students – artisans – scholars, and a conclusion with inspiration sharing. Artisan Ta Thu Huong from Chuong conical hat village (Thanh Oai) and artisan Sam Thi Tinh from Hoa Tien traditional weaving village (Nghe An) shared their journeys in preserving and developing traditional crafts. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi An (Lecturer at Heritage Studies Department SIS, President of Hanoi Folk Arts Association) and student Nguyen Phuong Thao (QH23 Heritage Resource Management SIS) helped clarify the creative role of artisans and opened up ways to connect academic knowledge with practice.

Heritage Exchange – Sharing & Learning Session
The afternoon session from 1:00 PM to 2:45 PM created a space for students from various universities to connect, share experiences, and learn from each other about applying heritage knowledge to creative products, communication, design, and sustainable tourism.

Panel Talk “Careers in Heritage: Opportunities in a New Era”
The panel session from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM gathered experts and guests in the Heritage – Culture field to discuss career opportunities in the new context. Sharing about career journeys, necessary skills, and the application of heritage knowledge across various fields provided participants with clearer and more practical insights into the future of Heritage careers. Particularly, heritage students gained more realistic and objective perspectives on their career directions and future opportunities.

Heritage Day SIS 2025 concluded with many special emotions and experiences connected to heritage. From 10 creative projects in the “Touching Heritage” space, hands-on activities, to specialized panel discussions and the Heritage Exchange program – all created a meaningful day that spread love for heritage and interdisciplinary learning spirit to the student community and young people interested in cultural heritage.
