The International Youth Day 2025: Local Youth Actions for the SDGs & Beyond – Youth Initiative Festival for Sustainable Development Goals by UNESCO
On August 16, 2025, the Local Youth Initiatives Fest for Sustainable Development Goals was held with resounding success in Viet Nam, marking a significant milestone within the framework of activities commemorating International Youth Day 2025, themed “Local Youth Acting for SDGs and a Sustainable Future.” The event, organized by the United Nations in Viet Nam, attracted the participation of hundreds of young people from across the country.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Jonathan Baker, UNESCO Representative and Chair of the UN Thematic Group on Adolescent and Youth in Viet Nam, emphasized the pivotal role of youth: “Young people are not merely beneficiaries of development; they are its creators. They are the innovators, leaders, organizers, and visionaries shaping local realities in bold and creative ways.”
A key highlight of the Fest was the official launch of the Youth Advisory Group (YAG) – a historic milestone marking a significant step forward in amplifying youth voices and leadership. YAG is expected to serve as a vital bridge, providing a formal platform for youth consultation, participation, and leadership in UN processes in Viet Nam.
The COMPLEX 01 venue buzzed with energy, featuring exhibition booths showcasing unique initiatives. Young people had the opportunity to share ideas, connect with one another, and learn from successful projects, fostering a vibrant environment of cultural and intellectual exchange.
