GENDER WEEK 2025: THẤY GIỚI TRONG THẾ GIỚI

27/10/2025

From October 21-27, 2025, Gender Week 2025 with the theme “Seeing Gender in the World” took place at COMPLEX 01, initiated by ECUE and TUVA Communication, in collaboration with Vietcetera and COMPLEX 01.

Interactive Space “Seeing Gender in the World”

The central activity was an interactive space open from 5:00 PM on October 21 and from 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM on October 22-27, where journeys about gender were recreated through the language of senses and emotions.

Vần Vò: “Healthy” vs “Beautiful” – What to Choose for Your Body?

On the evening of October 22, HADEUS Vietnam organized an event about the relationship between body, health, and gender norms. The event began with an interactive experience with mannequins, followed by discussions on how gender norms influence healthcare choices. Questions were raised: How many choices are truly for ourselves without being influenced by the concept of a “standard body”? How many choices are made with complete information about benefits and harms?

Vùng Mềm – Film Screening and Conversation with Filmmakers

On the evening of October 23 at White Light Cinéhub, Heritage Art Space coordinated a film screening and conversation program. Five works were screened: “Wiping the Beginning” (Nguyen Duy Anh, 2024), “The One Who Stays” (Nguyen Thi Thanh Mai, 2018), “The Kiss” (Linh DN, 2018), “If There Is Heaven” (Ha Dao, 2024), and “Poetry Garden” (Quynh Dong, 2022).

Filmmakers shared their creative inspirations. Nguyen Duy Anh recounted discovering why a janitor kept wiping an already clean glass – because of the surveillance camera above. Linh DN shared how accidentally, during an argument, the camera gave her an invisible power. Ha Dao created a music film about the story of female gangster Dung Ha from the port area. Quynh Dong shared about “Poetry Garden” – where words, images, and imagination create a “garden” of overlapping layers of time and emotions.

CSE – Learn and Chill: Comprehensive Sexuality Education interactive space

On October 26, the Comprehensive Sexuality Education interactive space opened, an initiative by Ban cung Nha under the Nha Nhieu Cot campaign. The space provided knowledge about gender, sexuality, and reproductive health through multisensory interactive activities: quizzes, games, images, and hands-on practice. Participants had a “quiet space” to write down their own thoughts or stories.

Gender Week 2025 created a space where everyday stories about gender were voiced, heard, and respected – from questions about body and health, diverse voices through films, to a safe space for comprehensive sexuality education.
