Gender equality (GE) is a social issue that many people are concerned about today, but views on GE still have many conflicting opinions. From a cultural point of view, a number of customary concepts are believed to be barriers to the eradication of inequality that society is aiming for. For example, according to the Cham people’s concept, women until the “red light” day are not allowed to go to the tower, is it gender-related discrimination? Or are Cham women not allowed to play musical instruments in traditional rituals that are sexist?

As we all know, culture is formed and developed by the ideas of the community through the process of perception by their life experiences. How can stories about “gender equality” not contradict the concept of ethnic culture in preserving ethnic minority cultures?

To better understand the concept in the culture of ethnic minorities in Vietnam related to gender equality. The Vietnam Pioneer Network wishes to open up an exchange space to listen and share injustices to understand rather than judge victims or a cultural custom.
