ON SOFA #2: READING VIDEO ART WITH QUYNH DONG

28/04/2026

On April 28, Heritage Art Space, in collaboration with artist Quỳnh Đồng, convened an intimate session within the On Sofa / Ghế Dài public program series, focusing on the reading of video art. Situated within expanded media practices, video art resists fixed narratives and disciplinary boundaries, operating through temporal, spatial, and perceptual disruptions. It calls for a mode of spectatorship that is both critical and embodied.

Working through nine key parameters of video art, Quỳnh Đồng invited participants to re-engage with works by Bill Viola (Reflecting Pool), Mika Rottenberg (Cosmic Generator), alongside her own piece, Karaoke Night (2009), opening up questions around image construction, duration, performativity, and the politics of viewing.

This event is part of the On Sofa / Ghế Dài series by Heritage Art Space, bringing together artists, art practitioners, and the local community. We welcome a wide range of ideas and formats, and invite you to gather, connect, and share time on the sofa in an open, informal setting.
