During our gathering on June 13, Ngọc proposed an approach to translation rooted in sensing language, intentionally maintaining the distance between the source and target texts, between the foreign language and the mother tongue. Together with participants, she worked through selected passages from The Kangaroo Communiqué by Haruki Murakami, opening discussions around individual choices in wording, sentence structure, and translation strategies..

Following the translation exercise, participants took part in a movement-based activity, transforming the translated text into short performances and exploring new ways of engaging with language through the body.

This workshop is intended for those studying or practising Japanese translation, or simply anyone who knows and loves the language.
